Sunday Daybook entry 13

Outside my window...
It's raining a little bit. Kinda nice on this Sunday morning! I enjoy the gentle rain on a cool June morning. The weather has been strangely cool.

I am thankful for...
My DH! He surprised me for our 13th anniversary last week and planned out 13 clues which lead me to our new 'big blue' van. Stay tuned for a post with reviews on the van and pictures (coming next week).

In the schoolroom...
Friday I spent most of the day at the IHM conference. I heard to great talks in the am. Went to lunch with college friends and then returned to the conference to browse the vendor area. My biggest purchase was Level A of Right Start math. I'm going to slowly start it this year with my 4 year old. I'm hoping even my soon to be 3 year old will join in some.  This program is completely new for us. I decided to start it with them for many reasons, but the main one is...I want to see if laying a little bit different foundation with them will make them stronger math students. My other kids are average math students and I'm fine with that- great with that actually, but I'm just kinda curious if this program will make any difference with my younger two. Let the 'experiment' begin!

From the kitchen...
I have been pretty lame with what's been coming out of the kitchen lately. 2 reasons, all star baseball practices EVERY night AND I haven't been getting my plan together in advance. I'm going to do that this afternoon. Plan the weeks meals and go grocery shopping.

I'm working on...
Swimming lessons started last week. Great teacher. So far so good! I have a sitter coming in 2 times a week right now. She's been helping me in some capacity or another for the past 3-4 summers. She just graduated from high school and is off to our alma mater next year. 18 years old, trained EMT...a big help during the summer months. I enjoy setting up my appointments, for both the kids and I, and having her help with the kids during those appointments. Also, I can use the time to plan for the next school year. And lastly, I also use the time to spend one on one time with each child. Love that! I've already taken a couple of my girls shopping and to lunch. I also got to take my godson to lunch last week. That was a fun time!

I'm reading...
Haven't touched a book lately.

I'm praying for...
My SIL down the road. She's been in SLOW contraction mode for days. I've been there. It's really hard to be waiting for the REAL active labor stage when you're right at the end and miserable. So, I'm praying for patience, peace and that the baby comes soon!

A picture thought...
My #1 and my #6. I can't believe how big #1 is getting. This year she goes off to school. She's leaving the nest a little bit...I'm so excited for her because I know she's going to love school, but I'm also nervous for her as I know jr. high can be tough in many ways. Mainly, I'm just praying for her because I know this is the right decision and this is the right school for her...so I need to trust Him to be near her through thick and thin...and let her SPREAD HER WINGS!
