A heart of gratitude? What exactly does that mean? Does it simply mean being thankful? Or is there more to it than that?
I'd like to try to uncover the meaning...
For a long time I've considered myself to be a very grateful person. Early on in my life my parents taught us to be thankful for all and to always express it. Whether we were telling dad 'thanks' for taking us out to dinner or 'thank you' for the awesome vacation or anything else. We were always expected to say 'thank you' without being asked/told to say it. Those words are so important. Everyone needs to hear them!
As I'm growing in age and wisdom (hopefully) I feel like more and more I'm learning that gratefulness and thankfulness are very similar as the definitions below would suggest. However it seems to me that gratefulness is more a matter of the heart. Thankfulness is shown more outwardly. In my mind gratefulness is not only expressed through words, but also I would say it's a 'movement of your heart'. Would you agree that you have to learn both of these virtues? Maybe some are more 'natural', but I feel for me I have to remind myself all that time.
Hmmm, ponder this in your heart! I'd love to hear what you're thinking. I know I have more to learn on this topic.
But for now...well, I have soooo much to be thankful and grateful for!
