Sometimes I find a baseball in the grass, on the garage floor, in the van or even sometimes in my house. When I find one just sitting somewhere not being played with...it makes me think...
My oldest son picked up a baseball before he was even two years old and automatically an attraction began. Do you know how many baseball's he has held, caught, thrown since then? Me either, but when I see a ball my memory runs through a myriad of snapshots of him playing the game he loves the MOST!
The common phrase 'All good things must come to an end' keeps running through my head today. Strange as it may seem I have my sons game tomorrow on my mind. I guess its because I've invited our local family members to meet us there and help cheer on his team- The Royals. But it's also likely because I love watching him play and I really look forward to it!
Its been a really fun season for him. His first time playing kid pitch. A great group of players stand together on the field and they have fun while at the same time keeping focused and more often than not defeating the competition. The end of the season tournament games have started now. The Royals' regular season 'record' was 6 wins, 3 losses. They won their first tournament game by just a few runs. Tomorrow at 11:30am they play their second game. The Royals and the Orioles will no doubt show us parents a 'nail bitting' game. Yes, it could be the Royals last game of the season and yes, I hope it's not. My son hasn't been on a team so far that has done so well in the regular season. I sure would be a proud mom if they pull off an exciting win.
I can count on one hand the number of games and practices I've had to miss in all these seasons. You can guarantee I'll be there tomorrow cheering on the team, camera in hand and plenty of snacks and ideas for keeping the rest of the kids entertained.
